I emptied my aquarium

After years of fine‑tuning lighting, nutrients, and overall balance, the time finally came to empty my aquarium due to an upcoming move. But before the water level dropped to zero, a series of unexpected changes unfolded — affecting both the plants and the fish.

Upgrading aquarium lighting to LED

When I had to empty my own aquarium because of moving, the fish needed a temporary place to stay. The borrowed tank, however, used fluorescent tubes that I didn’t want to turn on, so I had to find another solution. I designed my own 3D‑printed mounts that allowed me to fit a LED profile into the original holders. In this article, I describe the entire process and how I ultimately solved the lighting.
