Fish purchase

Two corydoras (Corydoras aeneus) have recently died. Then, the Ram cichlid (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) male started to have troubles to keep in the water column. Its swimming was uncoordinated. At the end it lay on the sand most of the time. It died roughly two weeks later.

By the end of August, I decided to buy new fish. I bought two Siamese algae eaters (Crossocheilus siamensis) in the Super Zoo store in Břeclav. However, I found one of them dead not long after having moved them to the main aquarium. I had to postpone further fish purchase because of my trip to the USA at the beginning of September.

After I returned, I bought some fish in the Sklorex store in Brno: two Ram cichlids el. blue (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi el. blue), two Siamese algae eaters (Crossocheilus siamensis), three Bronze corydoras (Corydoras aeneus) and three Serpae tetras (Hyphessobrycon eques). I bought the tetras to enlarge the school of fish and reduce their stress and other fish’s fin nipping so. A week later I moved the fish from the quarantine to the main aquarium. Again, one of the two new Siamese algae eaters died. Other fish are good.

The plants grow very fast and some of them bloomed. I had to cut the branch with flowers because it was very long. I had to cut the leaves of some plants because they were too dense.

On www.rostlinna-akvaria.cz I ordered one piece of the Eleocharis parvulus plant. I planted it during the last water change. It looks nice for the time being. On the other hand, the Staurogyne repens plant hasn’t done well and disappeared.
